Acoustics for Schools, Daycare Centers & After-School Programs
Room acoustics in educational spaces significantly determine how clearly speech is understood and how stressful daily life is perceived. In classrooms, group rooms, dining rooms, cafeterias, and multi-purpose rooms, hard surfaces, many voices, and long reverberation times can quickly lead to conversations becoming unclear and staff having to speak louder more often.
Schools, daycare centers, kindergartens, and after-school care facilities are places for learning, playing, eating, care, and meeting. That's precisely why room acoustics must work in everyday life – not just on paper. A good solution supports speech, concentration, and the quality of stay, without making rooms feel sterile or overly damped.
Frankustika plans room-specific acoustic solutions for educational spaces – effective, practical, and budget-conscious. The goal is not the most elaborate solution, but a noticeable improvement where it makes the biggest difference in everyday life.
- better speech intelligibility
- less reverberation in the room
- economically planned measures
Good room acoustics doesn't mean "silent." It means: speech becomes clearer, rooms feel more pleasant, and daily life becomes less stressful.
LANGUAGE. CONCENTRATION. PARTICIPATION.
When poor acoustics make everyday life difficult.
Poor room acoustics in schools, daycare centers, kindergartens, and after-school care centers are not only characterized by "loudness." In educational spaces, voices, footsteps, chairs, play sounds, and other noises often overlap so much that speech becomes less clear and conversations require more effort.
For children, students, and staff, this can make everyday life noticeably more strenuous: Concentration is more difficult, groups become more restless, and voices have to be raised more often. Especially in classrooms, group rooms, dining rooms, cafeterias, and multi-purpose rooms, it becomes clear how much room acoustics influence the atmosphere of a space.
Good room acoustics can also be an important building block for inclusion and participation. If speech is more clearly understandable and fewer noises echo in the room, people who rely on good speech intelligibility, orientation, and a low-stimulation environment particularly benefit.
The more understandable a room becomes, the easier it can support learning, care, communication, and social interaction.
Frankustika | ESSENCE
Improve strategically instead of remodeling unnecessarily.
Not every educational space needs a complete renovation. With Frankustika ESSENZ, schools, daycares, kindergartens, and after-school clubs can be specifically improved – with acoustic elements for walls, ceilings, or mobile use in the room.
ESSENZ can be used as a wall absorber, ceiling baffle, acoustic picture, or mobile element. The elements reduce disturbing reverberation and can be placed where they are most effective in the room: above tables, on free wall surfaces, in group rooms, classrooms, dining rooms, cafeterias, auditoriums, or multi-purpose rooms.
Many design options remain. ESSENZ can appear calm and understated, color-matched to the room, or be directly printed – for example, with motifs, symbols, orientation aids, learning content, logos, or the institution's corporate design. This way, the acoustic solutions don't look out of place but rather integrate visually or are consciously used for design purposes.
This flexibility is particularly important in educational spaces: some institutions desire a quiet, minimalist design, while others want to consciously incorporate colors, pictures, or communication areas. Frankustika plans the solution so that acoustics, room aesthetics, use, and budget are in harmony.
In short: ESSENZ is not a rigid standard panel, but a versatile acoustic system for rooms that need to function in everyday life.
DAYCARES, KINDERGARTENS & AFTER-SCHOOL CARE
Vibrant Spaces. Understandable Everyday Life.
A daycare center should sound lively. It becomes strenuous when the room also amplifies noise: during play, meals, arrivals, tidying up, reading aloud, or movement. In nurseries, kindergartens, and after-school care centers, voices, footsteps, chairs, play noises, and hard surfaces often overlap so much that speech becomes harder to understand and the team frequently has to speak louder.
Good room acoustics do not diminish the liveliness of everyday life – they remove unnecessary acoustic harshness. Children can listen better, participate, and find peace; the team's voice, concentration, and nerves are relieved. Especially with special needs, high noise sensitivity, or many simultaneous activities, more clarity in the room can noticeably ease daily life.
With Frankustika ESSENZ, solutions are created for group rooms, dining rooms, activity rooms, multi-purpose rooms, quiet rooms, hallways, or entrance areas. Depending on the facility, the elements can be discreetly integrated, color-matched, or directly printed – for example, with motifs, symbols, numbers, letters, pictograms, or orientation aids.
In short: Daycare acoustics should not make children quieter. They should make rooms more understandable, more pleasant, and less stressful.
CLASSROOMS, CANTEENS & LOUNGES
Where classes, breaks and recreation come together.
In schools, acoustic stress does not only occur during lessons. Especially in classrooms, canteens, auditoriums, corridors, common areas, and multi-purpose rooms, many voices, movement, and hard surfaces come together. During breaks, meals, all-day activities, or events, a room can quickly feel restless.
Good room acoustics not only support learning but also the time in between. When reverberation and noise peaks are reduced, conversations become more understandable, supervision situations are more relaxed, and common areas are more pleasant to use – for students, teachers, supervisors, catering, and other staff. Especially in canteens and all-day areas, acoustics play a role in determining whether breaks truly provide relief or become the next source of stress.
School rooms can be specifically improved: through robust wall absorbers, ceiling baffles, acoustic pictures, or combined solutions. The measures are planned to suit the room size, use, existing structure, and budget – as individual components or as a complete concept.
In short: Good school acoustics do not end at the classroom door. They begin wherever learning, eating, waiting, meeting, and working take place.
- Classrooms, canteens, auditoriums, corridors, and common areas
- Better intelligibility with many voices
- Robust solutions for heavily used rooms
- Planning to suit operation, existing structure, and budget
APPROACH & INITIAL ASSESSMENT
Simply start. Decide clearly.
Getting started doesn't have to be complicated. For an initial assessment, photos, rough dimensions, a floor plan, and brief information on usage are often sufficient: Which rooms are affected, when does it get particularly loud, and what should improve in everyday life?
Based on this, we assess the room situation and discuss suitable options – for example, wall elements, ceiling elements, acoustic pictures, mobile elements, or combined solutions. We pay attention to what suits the room, the ongoing operations, and the available budget.
You will then receive a comprehensible recommendation with design, quantity, effort, and cost framework. Depending on the project, we deliver the elements for self-implementation or, if desired, take measurements and handle installation.
An acoustic measurement is possible as a separate service upon request, for example, for larger projects, more complex rooms, or when a more precise basis is required for sponsors, municipalities, or internal coordination.
In short: First understand the space. Then plan effectively. Then implement cleanly.
- Initial assessment with photos, dimensions, floor plan, and usage
- Recommendation for wall, ceiling, acoustic pictures, or mobile elements
- Comprehensible offer with quantity, design, and cost framework
- Delivery or installation by arrangement
- Optional measurement and description of measures for sponsors or municipalities
REGIONALLY ROOTED. NATIONWIDE SCALABLE.
Room acoustics without major on-site effort.
Many acoustic projects can be meaningfully assessed based on photos, measurements, floor plans, and a brief description of use. This is a great advantage, especially for schools, daycares, kindergartens, and after-school clubs: initial recommendations, suitable areas, and possible elements can be coordinated without an immediate, elaborate on-site appointment being necessary.
Frankustika supports projects primarily in Franconia, Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen, Herzogenaurach, Forchheim, Bamberg, Bayreuth, and the Nuremberg metropolitan region. Depending on the project scope, we also plan and deliver acoustic solutions nationwide – coordinated by phone, email, photos, floor plan, and mutual queries.
Even longer distances don't have to be an obstacle: in practice, daycare and school projects can often be prepared digitally – from the initial assessment to the coordination of suitable areas and the selection of appropriate elements. This way, a solution can be planned, produced, and delivered without the entire process necessarily having to start on-site.
We offer installation primarily in Franconia and the surrounding area. For nationwide projects, the delivery of acoustic elements is often the priority – with clear coordination, comprehensible recommendations, and, upon request, advice on placement or implementation on-site.
If a more precise technical basis is required, an acoustic measurement can be useful as a separate service. However, a well-prepared digital coordination is sufficient for many initial assessments.
In short: First assess digitally. Then plan precisely. Then deliver or implement.
- initial assessment via photos, measurements, and floor plan
- planning for schools, daycares, kindergartens, and after-school clubs
- focus on Franconia and the Nuremberg metropolitan region
- have acoustic elements delivered nationwide
- installation primarily in Franconia and by arrangement
- test setup in Franconia after review, effort, and cost coordination
TECHNICAL ORIENTATION
Plan room acoustics understandably.
Good room acoustics in educational spaces are not achieved by individual elements alone, but by a sensible coordination of room size, use, existing surfaces, effective absorption area and placement. Therefore, we do not view rooms in isolation by product, but rather by the question of where acoustic measures truly help in everyday life.
In our planning, we orient ourselves – depending on the room and use – to the basic principles of DIN 18041 for acoustic quality in rooms. The focus is on intelligible speech, appropriate reverberation times, and a solution that fits the actual operation.
Acoustic measures in schools, daycares, and after-school care centers must also be practically implementable: installation, fire protection requirements, design, cleaning, use, and ongoing operation all play a role. Therefore, we do not plan for maximum damping, but for a room- and use-specific improvement.
The goal is a solution that is technically sound – and works in everyday life.
